Environmental protection audit

Inspectors from the State Environmental Service (VVD) regularly conduct routine on-site inspections at company facilities. Companies usually feel more secure if a competent environmental specialist assists in preparing for these inspections and participates in them, representing the company’s interests.

Why conduct an internal environmental audit?

In companies whose facilities are classified as high-risk sites, regular comprehensive inspections are carried out by VVD and the State Fire and Rescue Service.

Additionally, given the high level of consumer interest in environmental compliance, many companies choose voluntary initiatives that improve environmental performance, such as certifying their facilities according to environmental management system or energy efficiency standards. In such cases as well, consultations with an environmental specialist and their presence during inspections are valuable.

Benefits for the company when choosing to conduct an internal environmental protection audit:

  • no unnecessary emotional stress before an inspection by the State Environmental Service (VVD);
  • the ability to allocate all internal workforce resources directly to the development of the company;
  • properly organized environmental protection documentation makes the company more attractive for investment and increases its value;
  • the risk of overpaying the natural resource tax is eliminated;
  • the risk of partial or complete suspension of operations is reduced or eliminated.

What’s included in the service?

The Environmental Protection Audit service is designed to provide company management with peace of mind and confidence regarding the company’s compliance with environmental legislation and the requirements of its pollution permit, especially prior to a scheduled inspection by the State Environmental Service (VVD).

The service includes:

  • An independent internal environmental audit of the company prior to a State Environmental Service (VVD) inspection;
  • A report outlining our audit results, including a non-compliance correction plan;
  • Organization of the company’s environmental documentation;
  • Involvement of a qualified environmental specialist and representation of the company’s interests during the VVD inspection;
  • Communication with VVD on behalf of the company.

During the internal environmental audit, we verify whether:

  • Water and wastewater are managed in accordance with permit conditions;
  • The production facility meets the permit conditions;
  • The natural resource tax is calculated correctly;
  • Water and wastewater are managed in accordance with permit conditions;
  • Conditions of previous VVD inspection reports have been fulfilled, among other aspects.

The environmental protection audit service can be purchased either for preparing the company for a specific scheduled inspection by the State Environmental Service (VVD) or as a continuous environmental specialist support service. The continuous environmental specialist support service includes ongoing monitoring of the company’s specific environmental requirements, as well as current regulatory acts and the company’s compliance with them.
