Environmental Statistics Forms

Each year, companies are required to submit national statistical forms via the Environmental Information System of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC). These reports must cover:
– air emissions,
– water abstraction and emissions to water,
– activities involving chemical substances,
– generated and managed waste.
It is essential for companies to comply with the deadlines specified in the relevant regulations, as the databases are closed after the submission period ends. Any late submission is only possible by submitting a formal request with justification to the State Environmental Service.
The official environmental reporting forms must be completed and submitted in accordance with the procedures outlined in Cabinet Regulation No. 271.

2-Air

The ‘Form No. 2 – Air. Report on Air Protection’ must be completed by operators holding an A or B category permit for polluting activities, or a C category certificate for polluting activities in the energy sector.

2-Water

The ‘Form No. 2 – Water. Report on Water Resource Use’ must be completed by companies holding a water resource use permit, operators with an A or B category permit for polluting activities, as well as wastewater treatment plant operators holding a C category certificate for polluting activities.

3-Waste

The ‘Form No. 3 – Waste. Report on Waste Generation and Management’ must be completed by:

  • companies holding an A or B category permit for polluting activities;
  • companies holding a C category certificate for polluting activities related to the repair and maintenance of vehicles and other equipment;
  • companies holding a waste management permit;
  • waste traders and waste management intermediaries;
  • waste management operators who import into or export waste from the territory of Latvia for recovery or incineration;
  • Waste producers who export waste from the territory of Latvia for disposal, recycling, or recovery;

Report on Chemical Substances and Mixtures

The report on chemical substances and mixtures must be submitted if the amount manufactured or imported into the territory of Latvia during the previous calendar year is:

  • 100 kg or more,
  • If the chemical substances and mixtures are classified as acutely toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to the reproductive system, etc., the report must be submitted if the amount is 10 kg or more per year.
