Geoecological Survey
When must a geoecological survey be carried out?
A merchant planning to purchase land for business purposes—especially in potentially contaminated areas—is advised to carry out a geoecological survey in order to determine the level of contamination, because:
- it significantly affects the value of the land property;
- if the concentration of pollutants exceeds the limit values, the State Environmental Service may require remediation of the site.
A geoecological survey determines the level and quality of soil, subsoil, and groundwater contamination, as well as their assessment in accordance with the requirements of Regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers. The survey may only be carried out by a natural or legal person holding a valid license for the respective activity.
Soil and groundwater sampling is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the license issued by the State Environmental Service, ensuring the representativeness of the samples, and the testing is performed in LATAK-accredited laboratories.
