Groundwater samples are collected using a groundwater sampling cylinder or a peristaltic pump. The procedure is carried out in accordance with the requirements set by regulations, and the samples are submitted for analysis to an accredited laboratory.

Groundwater testing must also be performed during geotechnical investigations to determine the aggressiveness of groundwater towards foundation structures—iron and reinforced concrete.
