Land Reclamation Plans
When should reclamation be carried out?
Reclamation is a set of activities carried out after mineral extraction, in order to prepare the extraction site for future land use according to the planned land use purpose, and to facilitate the integration of the site into the landscape. A mineral extraction site must be reclaimed when extraction at the deposit is completed. Reclamation must be started within one year after the completion of mineral extraction.
Reclamation is carried out in accordance with the approved mineral extraction project and the type of reclamation specified within it. According to the requirements of Cabinet Regulation No. 570, completed reclamation works must be handed over to a commission established by the building authority, which includes representatives from the State Environmental Service (VVD), the relevant municipality, the landowner, and the mineral extractor.
If the type of reclamation differs from that specified in the project, the reclamation plan must be approved by the local municipal building authority before reclamation work begins.
If reclamation is carried out after extraction has been completed, the calculation of remaining reserves must be performed beforehand.
